Sticky Ink and Cellophane Textured Gold Background

Create a sporadic, textured background using sticky ink transferred via cellophane bag, then heat-set with embossing powder to reveal a beautiful dotted, marbled texture with dimension.

Step by step

1. Tap a sticky ink pad onto a clean, dry cellophane bag several times to coat it. ▶ watch 19:30
2. Press the sticky-inked cellophane bag onto your card blank in a sporadic, random pattern. ▶ watch 20:00
3. Tap and press the bag across the card to transfer the sticky ink unevenly. ▶ watch 20:30
4. Lift the cellophane bag away from the card. ▶ watch 21:00
5. Sprinkle embossing powder over the sticky ink areas on the card. ▶ watch 21:30
6. Tap off any excess embossing powder back into the pot. ▶ watch 22:00
7. Use a heat gun to melt and set the embossing powder, revealing the textured finish. ▶ watch 23:45

Tips from the show

• Sticky ink is clear, so you won't see it on the bag—trust the process and tap firmly.
• Uncoated card stock may not accept the sticky ink as readily as smoother card; smoother cardstock works better for this technique.
• Heat-setting transforms the subtle texture into a dramatic, dimensional finish that wouldn't be visible without it.
