Cellophane Bag Ink Transfer Background Card

Use a cellophane bag or plastic carrier sheet to transfer ink onto card in layers, creating unique organic backgrounds with depth and colour variation. Build up multiple colours to achieve a night-sky effect.

Step by step

  1. Prepare a clean cellophane bag or plastic carrier sheet. ▶ watch 12:45
  2. Ink a mat or surface with your first colour (teal). ▶ watch 13:00
  3. Spray the inked mat with water to activate the colour. ▶ watch 14:00
  4. Press the cellophane bag onto the inked mat to pick up the colour. ▶ watch 14:15
  5. Transfer the inked bag onto your card blank by pressing and tapping it down. ▶ watch 14:30
  6. Allow the first layer to dry slightly, then repeat with a second colour (pink) in a different area. ▶ watch 15:00
  7. Add a third colour (yellow) to create additional depth and variation. ▶ watch 15:30
  8. Let the card dry completely before moving on to further embellishment. ▶ watch 16:00
