Acrylic Block Inky Background Card

Create a soft blended background using an acrylic block, two ink pad colours, water spray and a card blank. The technique produces a beautiful gradient effect with natural colour blending in the middle.

Step by step

  1. Select an acrylic block and two ink pad colours—pink and teal work well. ▶ watch 6:45
  2. Ink up the top half of the acrylic block with the first colour (pink). ▶ watch 7:00
  3. Ink up the bottom half of the block with the second colour (teal). ▶ watch 8:15
  4. Spray the inked block with water from a spray bottle to activate the inks. ▶ watch 8:30
  5. Tap the middle section where the colours meet to blend them together and create a purple tone. ▶ watch 8:45
  6. Press the inked acrylic block firmly onto your card blank, centring it as much as possible. ▶ watch 9:00
  7. Allow the ink to transfer fully onto the card, then lift the block away carefully. ▶ watch 9:15
  8. Set the card aside to dry completely before handling further. ▶ watch 9:30
