Embossed Rose Card with Wax Highlight

Create an elegant card featuring a beautifully embossed rose design surrounded by sentiment words on soft pink cardstock. The raised rose and leaves are highlighted with metallic gilding wax in pink and turquoise tones, adding luxurious dimension and shimmer. This project combines embossing and wax application techniques to produce a sophisticated, textured greeting card.

Step by step

1. 

   Cut a piece of white cardstock to size. Place it in the rose embossing folder and run it through your die-cutting and embossing machine to create the raised rose design.

2. 

   Stamp the rose stamp onto the embossed card using black pigment ink, pressing firmly to ensure the ink captures all the detail in the embossed grooves.

3. 

   Apply gilding wax to the raised areas of the embossed design using your finger or a soft cloth. Work the wax into the dimensional parts of the rose and the embossed words, highlighting the texture.

4. 

   Allow the wax to dry on the embossed design. The wax dries almost instantly, leaving a subtle highlight on the raised areas of the rose and leaves.

   Optionally, swipe a black ink pad over the waxed areas to add definition and make the embossed words stand out.

Tips from the show

• Gilding waxes dry almost instantly, so work quickly.
• You can use the embossing folder on its own without stamping if you prefer a simpler design.
• The versatility of these embossing folders means you can team them up with different card stocks, metallics, and techniques to make each card unique.
