Stencilled Background with Gnome Character Card

A festive card featuring a gnome character set against a stencilled background with candy canes, stars and seasonal elements. The stencil is used around the edges to create a decorative frame without needing a full-size card.

Step by step

1. Position the 7 by 7 stencil on your card and use ink or sparkly paste to stencil candy canes and stars around the edges. ▶ watch 1:17:30
2. Build up the stencilled design by repeating elements like candy canes, stars and gonks around the card border. ▶ watch 1:18:00
3. Add sparkly paste or glitter to the stencilled areas for extra festive dimension. ▶ watch 1:18:45
4. Die-cut a smaller shaped card using one of the new waste-free dies to create an interesting card shape. ▶ watch 1:19:15
5. Mount patterned paper from the Mystical Christmas pad onto the shaped card base. ▶ watch 1:20:00
6. Stamp and colour your gnome character on separate card stock. ▶ watch 1:20:30
7. Die-cut the coloured gnome and mount it onto the stencilled card. ▶ watch 1:21:00
8. Add a sentiment plaque or stamp to complete the design. ▶ watch 1:21:30

Tips from the show

• You can use the stencil on smaller cards by positioning it around the edges rather than trying to centre it.
• Layer the stencilled elements with different colours and sparkly pastes for depth.
• The shaped die-cut cards create visual interest without needing additional panels on the front.
