Create a beautifully painted-looking card using the two-part New Horizons lamination stamp set featuring a fishing boat and water. The technique makes it appear as though you've hand-painted the design, giving a realistic and artistic finish.

Step by step

Take the solid portion of the boat stamp and ink it with Tiffany and ocean ink pads, applying colour randomly across the stamp. ▶ watch 43:00
Spray the inked stamp lightly with water to blend the ink colours together and diffuse any harsh lines. ▶ watch 44:00
Press the stamp firmly onto white card stock, allowing the card to absorb the ink naturally. ▶ watch 44:30
Lift the stamp carefully and allow the card to dry slightly with a heat gun. ▶ watch 45:00
Ink the detail portion of the stamp with gold embossing ink. ▶ watch 46:15
Align the detail stamp over the coloured base, using the packet as a reference guide for positioning. ▶ watch 47:00
Press down firmly and lift to reveal the detailed boat design on top of the coloured base. ▶ watch 48:00
Stamp a sentiment from the set onto the card using black ink. ▶ watch 49:00
Mount the finished design onto a card base if desired, or leave as a standalone piece. ▶ watch 49:30

Tips from the show

Lamination stamps aren't perfect, and that's what makes them successful—the imperfection gives it a realistic, hand-painted look.
You can stamp only half of the design on the page to create the effect of the boat coming into view.
If you lose detail slightly when spraying with water, you can bring it back with a little gel pen.
