A project from our live show FUNKY TUESDAY - FREE WORKSHOP with the Awesome Sarah Gray - Broadcast 22nd Nov 22 · 11/22/2022 · watch it from 38:30

An elegant A5 card featuring a die-cut floating hearts aperture in patterned navy paper, with vellum backing and a subtle gold-embossed script layer visible through the window. The layered design creates depth and visual interest with the hearts as the focal point.

Step by step

  1. Cut the floating hearts die out of the centre of a patterned paper panel to create an aperture window. ▶ watch 39:00
  2. Adhere vellum behind the aperture, applying glue carefully around the window edges to keep the adhesive hidden. ▶ watch 40:45
  3. Stamp an A7 script stamp randomly in gold heat embossing ink onto white cardstock to create a subtle background layer. ▶ watch 41:00
  4. Adhere the script-stamped white cardstock directly behind the vellum layer to keep the design cohesive and the script visible through the aperture. ▶ watch 43:30
  5. Cut strips of gold cardstock (or create gold using yellow ink pad with gold confetti ink overlay) and adhere them around the aperture panel as a mat. ▶ watch 44:30
  6. Trim the gold mat strips to size and adhere the complete aperture panel to your card base. ▶ watch 45:30
  7. Stamp and colour a moth from the dream catcher stamp set using confetti ink mixed with stamps by me inks for a shimmery watercolour effect. ▶ watch 47:30
  8. Position the coloured moth towards the top corner of the card, angling it as if the floating hearts are a trail behind it. ▶ watch 48:30
  9. Add four gold enamel dots in a diagonal line across the hearts to create movement and guide the eye through the design. ▶ watch 49:45
