Embossed Card with Brush Ink Technique

Transform a plain white card using an embossing folder and creative brush ink blending. This technique creates a textured, dimensional effect by applying multiple ink colours directly to the embossed surface, building colour gradually for a unique, artistic finish.

Step by step

  1. Emboss a piece of white card through your die-cutting machine using the embossing folder. ▶ watch 46:45
  2. Gather several used or inky brushes that contain leftover ink from previous projects. ▶ watch 47:00
  3. Rub the brushes across the embossed card surface, allowing the mixed ink colours to blend together naturally. ▶ watch 47:15
  4. Apply darker ink to the raised areas of the emboss to create depth and highlight the texture. ▶ watch 47:30
  5. Layer additional colours by repeating the brush technique, building up the colour gradually. ▶ watch 48:00
  6. For added effect, apply white ink to the embossed card to bring forward the detail and create contrast. ▶ watch 52:00
  7. Layer metallic ink (such as bronze or gold) over the white to add shimmer and definition to specific areas. ▶ watch 53:00
