Dipped Embellishment Watercolour Technique

Create quickly painted embellishments by wetting them and dipping them into ink pads, allowing the watercolour to settle naturally into all the recesses of the 3D design.

Step by step

1. Cut out individual hibiscus embellishments from white cardstock using the embossing folder and die. ▶ watch 54:20
2. Wet the entire embellishment with clean water. ▶ watch 54:30
3. Dip the wet embellishment directly into an ink pad colour to pick up pigment. ▶ watch 54:35
4. Allow the colour to settle naturally into all the grooves and detail of the 3D embossing. ▶ watch 54:40

Tips from the show

• This method is faster than painting and creates beautiful natural shading as the colour finds its own way into the recesses.
