Stag Head Christmas Card with Layered Antlers and Lights

Create a dimensional Christmas card featuring a die-cut stag head with layered antlers and woven decorative lights. This elegant design uses white and gold cardstock to create a high-end, understated festive card.

Step by step

1. Run the stag head die through your machine using white cardstock. ▶ watch 20:00
2. Carefully pop out the stag's nose and mouth details from the die-cut shape. ▶ watch 20:15
3. Mount the white stag head onto black cardstock to create a backing that stops it from floating. ▶ watch 20:30
4. Glue the black-backed stag onto a gold decorative strip or bar positioned in the centre of your card base. ▶ watch 21:00
5. Layer additional white antler pieces underneath the main antlers to add dimension and build up the stag's mane. ▶ watch 21:30
6. Weave the decorative light elements (from the die set) into the gold bar behind the stag's antlers without gluing them, allowing them to sit loosely for texture. ▶ watch 22:00
7. Mount the entire piece onto a slimline card base, ensuring the stag and lights are positioned centrally. ▶ watch 22:30

Tips from the show

• You can create a drop shadow effect by offsetting the stag slightly to the right or left before gluing.
• The lights can be woven in rather than glued, giving you flexibility to adjust the design.
• This design works well for Christmas crackers, gift tags, and memory albums, not just cards.
