Layered Heart Hat Card with Copper and Gold Accents

A multi-layered card featuring die-cut heart shapes in varying sizes, stacked with copper and gold metallic papers to create dimension. The design includes sentiment words and small star embellishments, perfect for occasions like anniversaries or general encouragement.

Step by step

1. Start with a white top-folding note card (5 by 7 inches) and cut a slightly smaller piece of white cardstock to create a matte layer. ▶ watch 15:30
2. Die-cut the largest heart shape from copper-coloured cardstock, positioning it on your card base. ▶ watch 16:00
3. Die-cut the next size down heart from sparkly or textured cardstock and layer it on top of the first heart. ▶ watch 16:15
4. Die-cut the detailed/outline heart from gold cardstock and double-cut it for added dimension. ▶ watch 19:45
5. Glue the layered hearts together using small dots of adhesive, ensuring they are properly aligned. ▶ watch 24:00
6. Die-cut the solid hat shape from gold cardstock to create the back layer of your embellishment. ▶ watch 26:30
7. Cut sentiment words such as 'Hope' and 'Faith' from white or contrasting cardstock. ▶ watch 32:00
8. Position the sentiment words on your card, adjusting placement until you are happy with the balance. ▶ watch 39:00
9. Die-cut small star shapes from the collection and position them as additional embellishments. ▶ watch 40:15
10. Adhere the layered heart embellishment to the card front using foam pads for dimension. ▶ watch 42:00

Tips from the show

• Save all cut-out pieces you don't immediately use, as they may be incorporated into future designs throughout the seven days of inspiration.
• Textured or foundation papers work particularly well with this die collection and create impactful results.
• You can paper-piece the back hat layer in a different colour if you prefer not to stack the hat shape.
