Autumn Leaves Embossed Mount Card

An artistic card using an embossing folder to create textured autumn leaves with a watercolour-like background effect. The leaves are inked in brown, then highlighted with white ink to bring out the embossed details, creating a snowy or frosted appearance.

Step by step

1. Brush brown ink (such as ground espresso) onto both sides of the embossing folder leaves. ▶ watch 24:15
2. Feel the embossing folder to identify which side is the front (the raised portion) and mark it if needed. ▶ watch 24:45
3. Run the inked embossing folder through your machine to create the embossed leaf impression on card stock. ▶ watch 25:00
4. Tap white ink pad over the embossed leaves to highlight and bring back the lost details. ▶ watch 28:00
5. Mount the embossed piece onto craft card to frame the design. ▶ watch 28:30
6. Add a die-cut sentiment to complete the card. ▶ watch 31:00

Tips from the show

• Use a lighter brown ink if you want to preserve more of the background detail visible through the embossing.
• You can reposition and re-run embossing folders through your machine multiple times if you're not happy with the first result.
• White ink is essential for bringing embossed details back to life after using dark inks.
