Ombré Gown Card with Lamination Stamps

Create a stunning card using two-part lamination stamps to build an ombré effect gown. The technique involves stamping a solid coloured base, then layering a detailed black outline to create depth and dimension that looks like professional artwork.

Step by step

1. Ink the solid portion stamp with purple at the top, blending down to pink at the bottom of the stamp. ▶ watch 9:30
2. Spray the inked stamp lightly with water to help the colours blend together smoothly. ▶ watch 10:00
3. Stamp the coloured portion onto your card stock, pressing firmly to transfer the full image. ▶ watch 10:15
4. Ink the detailed portion stamp with black ink, lining up the straps with the coloured layer beneath. ▶ watch 11:00
5. Stamp the detailed layer on top of the coloured base, allowing slight misalignment as it adds to the artistic effect. ▶ watch 11:30
6. Stamp a sentiment onto your card to complete the design. ▶ watch 13:15
7. Mount the stamped image onto a card blank with a contrasting panel for added impact. ▶ watch 13:30
8. Add optional 3D elements by stamping the image twice, cutting away the figure, and padding it for dimension. ▶ watch 14:00

Tips from the show

• Lamination stamps don't have to be perfectly aligned; slight misalignment adds to the artistic, hand-painted look.
• You can use any ink pads in your stash; the system works with different brands and colours.
• If you don't want to use the solid coloured portion, you can use just the detailed layer and colour it yourself with markers or brushes.
