Gold Foil Embossed Collage Card with Teal Base

Create a vibrant, modern card by embossing a floral design onto patterned paper, then highlighting the embossed areas with gold wax. Layer this onto a teal cardstock with collage paper for a striking mixed-media effect.

Step by step

1. Place your patterned paper into the embossing folder, ensuring the correct orientation with the rise facing upwards. ▶ watch 23:30
2. Run the paper through your die-cutting machine using thick plates to create the embossed design. ▶ watch 23:45
3. Trim away the excess paper around the embossed design using scissors. ▶ watch 24:15
4. Apply gold wax or gold ink to the embossed areas using a brush, covering the raised design thoroughly. ▶ watch 25:30
5. Prepare your teal cardstock base and collage paper layers for assembly. ▶ watch 27:45
6. Apply glue to the reverse of the embossed piece and position it on your card base. ▶ watch 29:15
7. Adhere the collage paper layer to the side of the card, pinching the edges slightly for dimension rather than laying it completely flat. ▶ watch 29:45

Tips from the show

• Gold wax or metallic inks create a striking contrast on patterned papers and show up beautifully on the embossed design.
• Layering different coloured cardstocks and patterned papers creates a mixed-media effect that makes the embossed design stand out.
