A quick and easy card using the reflection stamp system. You stamp a figure with its built-in reflection onto atmospheric night-toned paper, then add white gel pen highlights to bring dimension to the silhouette.

Step by step

Select a piece of Urban Life Night paper in a dark, moody tone. ▶ watch 36:15
Ink up the reflection stamp (the lady with umbrella) using black ink. ▶ watch 36:45
Position the stamp at the edge of the paper as if the figure is walking into or out of the frame. ▶ watch 37:15
Press the stamp firmly onto the paper to create a clear print with the jaded reflection element. ▶ watch 37:30
Allow the ink to dry completely. ▶ watch 38:00
Use a white gel pen to add highlights down one side of the figure (right or left, consistently). ▶ watch 38:15
Add highlights to the shoulder, arm, leg and shoe to create dimension and suggest light direction. ▶ watch 38:30
Add white highlights along the base of the reflection to enhance the water-like effect. ▶ watch 39:00
Mount the finished panel onto a card blank or add a sentiment stamp if desired. ▶ watch 39:30

Tips from the show

You do not have to use the whole reflection; you can capture just a portion of it depending on where you position the stamp.
The key to highlights is to stay on one side of everything—either right, left, top or bottom—so the light direction looks consistent and realistic.
If you want to add sparkle, use clear glue with sparkle to make the reflection look magical.
