A delicate floral design created by stencilling onto a decorative mount using coloured ink and sparkle paste. The technique combines ink blending with dimensional sparkle paste to create an elegant, raised focal point perfect for card making.

Step by step

Select a decorative mount from the Wishful Charm collection with fussy-cut elements. ▶ watch 45:30
Trim your card base to your preferred size, such as a rectangle rather than a square. ▶ watch 46:00
Tap off excess ink from your teal ink pad to avoid applying too much colour. ▶ watch 48:00
Apply teal ink lightly to the leaves of your stencil using a sponge dauber, creating a burnished effect. ▶ watch 48:30
Remove the stencil and observe the dimensional effect created by the teal ink on the leaves. ▶ watch 49:30
Apply soft pink ink very lightly to the flower centre, allowing it to blend with any underlying teal for a purple tone. ▶ watch 50:45
Clean your stencil with a spray bottle and tissue to remove excess ink before applying sparkle paste. ▶ watch 52:30
Apply sparkle paste generously through the stencil, ensuring all areas are well filled. ▶ watch 54:00
Allow the sparkle paste to dry completely, then remove the stencil to reveal the raised, glossy finish. ▶ watch 56:30
Mount your finished stencilled piece onto your card base and add a sentiment if desired. ▶ watch 57:30

Tips from the show

You can use the stencil on its own without any colour underneath if you prefer a clean sparkle effect.
The sparkle paste has an underlay of glue which disperses, leaving just the sparkle visible.
These stencilled flowers work beautifully as focal points and need minimal additional embellishment.
