Vellum Overlay Card with Tape Runner Adhesion

Learn how to adhere vellum to a card base without visible glue marks by using tape runners and strategic placement. This technique keeps the back of the card clean whilst showcasing the vellum's frosted, elegant appearance.

Step by step

1. Prepare a card blank and a piece of vellum cut or torn to size. ▶ watch 35:00
2. Position the vellum on top of the card as your intended topper. ▶ watch 35:15
3. Flip the vellum over and apply tape runner adhesive to the back, keeping it hidden behind where the vellum will sit. ▶ watch 35:30
4. Press the vellum down onto the front of the card, ensuring it is secure. ▶ watch 36:00
5. Glue the card topper to the front of the card base, covering any visible adhesive. ▶ watch 36:30

Tips from the show

• Everything showing through vellum will be visible, so plan your design accordingly.
• Tape runners are a good option for adhering vellum, though they may lose stickiness over time; reinforce with embellishments if needed.
• Sticks Two tape pens are among the better options for vellum adhesion, though they still require reinforcement with gems or flowers for durability.
