Northern Lights Card with Wax Embellishment

A scenic card featuring the Northern Lights paper from the reflection collection, stamped with a silhouette, then enhanced with coloured waxes to add subtle sparkle and dimension to specific areas of the design.

Step by step

1. Select the Northern Lights paper from the reflection collection as your base. ▶ watch 42:00
2. Stamp a silhouette design onto the paper using black ink. ▶ watch 42:30
3. Take a coloured wax (such as green or blue) and apply it to your finger. ▶ watch 43:00
4. Brush the wax gently into the coloured areas of the paper, blending it to create pearlised effects. ▶ watch 43:15
5. Apply a second coloured wax (such as blue or interference) to different areas, blending as you go. ▶ watch 44:00
6. Add a third wax colour if desired to build up the sparkly, magical effect. ▶ watch 44:30
7. Hold the card up to the light to see the subtle shimmer and sparkle created by the waxes. ▶ watch 45:00

Tips from the show

• Use waxes that are easily movable and not clunky or claggy to avoid creating lumps.
• Apply waxes to the coloured areas of the paper for the best effect.
• The shimmer is subtle when viewed flat but becomes visible when held to the light.
