Watercoloured Botanical Leaf Card

A simple card using the hot foiled botanical designs from the colouring book. You wet the petal area and drop watercolour ink onto it, letting the gold foil resist the colour beautifully. The result is an instant handmade card with professional-looking detail.

Step by step

1. Tear out a page from the hot foiled colouring book along the perforation line. ▶ watch 18:30
2. Wet a petal area of the botanical design with a wet brush. ▶ watch 19:00
3. Drop watercolour ink or pen colour onto the wet petal and drag it out across the area. ▶ watch 19:15
4. Allow the gold foil to resist the ink, creating natural colour variation. ▶ watch 19:30
5. Cut out a gold foil sentiment from the same book using scissors or a guillotine. ▶ watch 20:00
6. Stick the sentiment onto your painted design to complete the card. ▶ watch 20:30

Tips from the show

• The gold foil will resist your ink, so even young crafters can achieve professional results.
• The watercolour card stock has high cotton content, so it stays wet longer than traditional card, giving you more time to work.
• You can leave the pages in the book and fold them back, or tear them out and trim them down in a guillotine.
