Watercolour Painted Flower Card from Hot Foiled Book

Paint loose watercolour flowers directly onto pre-printed watercolour card stock from the hot foiled books. The designs are pre-printed with gold foil details and open spaces, so you simply add colour with ink pads and a brush to create beautiful, professional-looking cards.

Step by step

1. Remove a page from the watercolour hot foiled book by folding along the perforation and carefully tearing it out. ▶ watch 16:00
2. Gather your water-based ink pads in colours like pink, orange and green. ▶ watch 16:15
3. Swipe your ink pad onto a mat or palette to pick up colour on your brush. ▶ watch 16:30
4. Paint the pink ink into the flower petals, allowing the colour to sit on the watercolour card. ▶ watch 16:45
5. Add orange ink to adjacent areas of the design, blending where colours meet. ▶ watch 17:00
6. Paint green ink onto the leaves and stems to add depth and dimension. ▶ watch 17:15
7. Allow the painted card to dry completely. ▶ watch 17:30
8. Trim the card down if desired or leave as is, then mount onto a card base or use as a standalone card. ▶ watch 17:45

Tips from the show

• Use water-based ink pads from your existing stash rather than buying new watercolour paints.
• You don't have to stay within the lines—let the colour bleed out for a contemporary feel.
• The gold foil details will resist the water and ink, creating natural highlights.
