Simple Magnolia Card with Topper and Embellishments

A straightforward card using the Create a Card Magnolia kit components. You layer a card blank with a coordinating topper, add foam pads for dimension, and embellish with pre-cut ephemera pieces like flowers, leaves and birds to create an elegant finished card.

Step by step

1. Select three card blanks from the kit in colours that appeal to you. ▶ watch 35:00
2. Choose three coordinating toppers that work with your card blanks. ▶ watch 35:15
3. Attach the topper to the card blank using the foam pads provided in the kit. ▶ watch 36:00
4. Select a tag from the embellishment pack and stamp a sentiment onto it using the A6 stamp set and ink pad. ▶ watch 37:15
5. Adhere the stamped tag to the card using foam pads for dimension. ▶ watch 37:45
6. Layer the leaf fillers onto the card first, using foam pads underneath. ▶ watch 38:00
7. Add the bird embellishments on top of the leaves using foam pads. ▶ watch 38:15
8. Place the cotton flower embellishments around the corner to complete the design. ▶ watch 38:30
9. Decorate a coordinating envelope using the rubons from the kit by selecting a design, peeling back the transparent sheet, positioning it on the envelope and burnishing it down with a scraper tool. ▶ watch 39:00
10. Present the finished card and envelope as a coordinated set. ▶ watch 40:30

Tips from the show

• You have enough foam pads to make 20 or more cards, so do not be tight with the embellishments.
• The rubons transfer like they have been printed onto the envelope when burnished properly.
• You can make 18 complete cards from the kit and still have embellishments left over to extend your project with additional card stock from your stash.
