Layered Book Card with Storyteller Stamp

Create a dimensional three-layer book card using the Storyteller stamp set. This project features embossed edges, layered card stock, and mixed media techniques to produce an elegant, textured finished piece.

Step by step

1. Stamp the Storyteller book image onto decorative paper using black ink, ensuring at least four taps for full coverage on blackout areas. ▶ watch 18:30
2. Colour around the edges of the stamped book using ink work techniques to add depth and definition. ▶ watch 19:15
3. Cut two pieces of plain card stock slightly thicker than your painted card, cutting around the book shape to create matching layers. ▶ watch 20:15
4. Apply embossing ink to the outer edges of your card pieces and dust with gold embossing powder, tapping gently to avoid shifting the powder. ▶ watch 21:00
5. Heat emboss the edges using a heat tool to set the gold powder and create a framed effect. ▶ watch 22:00
6. Fold the card pieces in half and sculpt them gently to create dimension. ▶ watch 22:45
7. Apply foam pads to the reverse of each layer, using approximately 2mm thickness maximum to build up depth without excessive bulk. ▶ watch 24:00
8. Layer the pieces together, starting with the base, adding foam between each layer, and positioning the stamped book piece on top. ▶ watch 24:45
9. Add decorative mesh or textured elements to the card base for additional visual interest. ▶ watch 25:30
10. Adhere a violin stamp from the Notes of Joy set as a final embellishment to complement the book design. ▶ watch 26:00

Tips from the show

• Use tweezers with hand-shaped grips rather than standard tweezers to avoid leaving imprints on embossed ink.
• Apply foam pads with 2mm thickness maximum to create depth without making the card too bulky.
• You can sell cards made using these stamps if you are creating them for commercial purposes.
