Stencilled Layered Bird Card with Sparkle

Create a beautiful stencilled bird design using a six-layer stencil system with coordinating ink pads. The layering technique builds colour and dimension, finished with a sparkly gel pen for extra shine.

Step by step

1. Prepare your workspace with the stencil set and coordinating ink pads. ▶ watch 10:00
2. Place the first stencil layer on your card and apply the darkest ink colour, pressing firmly. ▶ watch 10:30
3. Overlay the second stencil layer and apply the same colour, pressing harder to create darker shading. ▶ watch 19:30
4. Continue layering stencils five and six, building colour and detail with each application. ▶ watch 24:30
5. Die-cut a coordinating black outline using the included die and place it over your stencilled design. ▶ watch 29:00
6. Apply sparkly gel pen to the bird's chest area, squeezing gently and allowing it to dry slightly before dragging. ▶ watch 30:00
7. Mount the finished stencilled piece onto a card blank. ▶ watch 31:15

Tips from the show

• Don't press too hard on the first stencil layer; use the same colour on the second layer but press harder to create natural shading.
• Any colour bleeding or tremors outside the stencil lines will be hidden once you apply the coordinating die-cut outline.
• Squeeze the sparkly gel pen gently as it comes out quickly; allow it to start drying before dragging it across the paper for best results.
