Interactive Fold-Out Card with Hinged Door

Make an interactive greeting card with a hinged fold-out door on the front that opens to reveal a reflection scene or hidden message inside. This uses pre-cut album pieces adapted for card-making.

Step by step

1. Take a pre-cut hinge piece and score it down the centre to create a fold line. ▶ watch 1:01:45
2. Attach the hinge to the top of your card base using tape, positioning it to create a door effect. ▶ watch 1:02:15
3. Add a second hinge piece inside to create a fold-out flap that opens from the centre. ▶ watch 1:02:45
4. Mount your card onto a card blank with a matted layer as the base. ▶ watch 1:03:15
5. Decorate the front with flowers, sentiments, and embellishments around the hinged door area. ▶ watch 1:03:45
6. Add pockets or a reflection scene inside the fold-out section for a surprise reveal when opened. ▶ watch 1:04:00

Tips from the show

• Hide the hinges behind your mat layer for a neater finish.
