Step by step

  1. Start with a piece of white textured card as your base. ▶ watch 18:00
  2. Begin with your lightest ink colour (orange) and apply it in irregular, non-perfect shapes across the card. ▶ watch 18:30
  3. Add red ink in the centre and darker areas, blending the colours together where they meet. ▶ watch 19:00
  4. Layer in purple ink, softening the edges where colours touch to create a gradient effect. ▶ watch 19:30
  5. Add blue ink and continue blending all colours together, creating a tie-dye effect. ▶ watch 20:00
  6. Finish with green ink, blending it into the composition and filling any remaining white gaps. ▶ watch 20:45
  7. Spritz the inked panel lightly with water to activate the inks and create star-like effects. ▶ watch 22:00
  8. Blot the water with kitchen towel and heat-set the panel with a heat gun to prevent cockling. ▶ watch 22:45
  9. Use circle dies in various sizes to cut circles from the inked background panel. ▶ watch 23:45
  10. Prepare a 6x6 inch white card base and apply a subtle stencilled background using a bubble waves stencil and two coordinating ink colours (cerise and outremer). ▶ watch 26:30
  11. Brush the stencil colours softly from the edges inward to create a pastel effect without hard lines. ▶ watch 27:30
  12. Stamp a sentiment (such as 'You Make Me Happy') in black ink in the bottom corner of the stencilled card. ▶ watch 29:00
  13. Glue a textured card layer onto the white card base, then layer the stencilled card on top. ▶ watch 29:45
  14. Adhere the largest cut circles flat to the card, then use foam pads under smaller circles to create varying height levels. ▶ watch 30:45
  15. Position some circles so they extend off the edge of the card for added depth and visual interest. ▶ watch 31:30
  16. Scatter coordinating sequins across the circles and card surface to add sparkle and finish the design. ▶ watch 32:00
