Shaped Easel Card with Lamination Scene

A freestanding easel card featuring a shaped die-cut border and a custom lamination scene. The card folds flat for posting but stands proud on display, creating an interactive and eye-catching presentation.

Step by step

  1. Start with a cream card blank that has a pre-scored fold line. ▶ watch 47:30
  2. Position the largest die from the Traditional Borders set so it overhangs the score line slightly. ▶ watch 47:45
  3. Run the die and card through your die-cutting machine to cut the shaped border. ▶ watch 48:00
  4. Carefully pop out the cut shape from the card. ▶ watch 48:30
  5. Using the same die, cut a complete second shape from matching card stock. ▶ watch 48:45
  6. Score a line on the complete shape just above the embossed ridges to create an easel hinge. ▶ watch 50:00
  7. Prepare your lamination scene on the shaped card piece using the two-part stamp technique: stamp the solid colour portion first with greens and browns, spray with water to blend, then add the detail stamp in black. ▶ watch 50:30
  8. Create a pathway in the lower portion of the design by stamping the path element with brown and green inks. ▶ watch 55:00
  9. Add the tree detail stamp in black to define the foliage and add birds to the scene. ▶ watch 1:01:00
  10. Optionally enhance the background with watercolour techniques using a brush and water to soften edges and add colour gradation. ▶ watch 1:02:00
  11. Glue the decorated shaped piece onto the front of the base card, positioning it below the score line. ▶ watch 1:08:30
  12. Fold the card flat for posting; when received, the recipient can stand it upright on a surface to display the scene. ▶ watch 1:08:45
