Stylised Hexagon Stencil Card with Pigment Ink Blending and Metallic Accents

Create an elegant card using the stylised hexagon stencil with pigment ink blended around the edges for a soft halo effect. Layer in reflection stamps with gold metallic ink to add dimension and create a sophisticated, multi-toned design.

Step by step

1. Take a piece of card stock as your base. ▶ watch 52:00
2. Position the stylised hexagon stencil on your card. ▶ watch 52:15
3. Apply pigment ink (teal colour) around the edges of the hexagon stencil, dabbing and blending to create a soft halo effect. ▶ watch 52:30
4. Work carefully around the stencil edges, following the stylised design rather than against it for better detail. ▶ watch 53:00
5. Remove excess ink from your brush to achieve a soft finish. ▶ watch 53:15
6. Remove the stencil carefully to reveal the hexagon with its blended background. ▶ watch 53:30
7. Stamp a tree or foliage element from the reflection stamp set in the same teal pigment ink in the centre of the hexagon. ▶ watch 54:00
8. Add gold metallic pigment ink across the top portion of the design to create a two-tone effect and add dimension. ▶ watch 54:30
9. Stamp a sentiment or additional design element (such as a sunburst or moon) in gold metallic ink to complete the card. ▶ watch 56:00

Tips from the show

• Pigment inks have an oil content that allows them to move more easily and dry more slowly, making them ideal for blending.
• You can batch-make multiple cards by doing all backgrounds first, then stamping all the designs in a second pass.
• There are no rules in crafting—be creative with your work and enjoy the process.
