Triple Print Stencil Spray Technique

Create three different prints from a single stencil application using spray ink and pressing techniques. This produces layered, multi-coloured effects with minimal product waste.

Step by step

1. Secure the stencil to plastic or cardstock using low-tack tape. ▶ watch 50:30
2. Spray ink through the stencil using a spray bottle, applying a light, even coat. ▶ watch 50:45
3. Pat down the stencil or lift it straight off to reveal the first print. ▶ watch 51:00
4. Take a second print by pressing the stencil onto a new surface while the ink is still wet. ▶ watch 51:15
5. Rotate the stencil and press it onto your project card, pressing down firmly to transfer the ink. ▶ watch 51:30
6. Use an alcohol wipe or sponge to push through the stencil, squishing the colour out for a third, blended print. ▶ watch 51:45

Tips from the show

• You can get multiple prints from a single spray application by rotating and repositioning the stencil.
• Alcohol wipes or sponges help distribute the ink and create additional print variations.
