Step by step

  1. Cut a strip of watercolour card measuring 4.5 inches wide, leaving extra length for security with a magnet during embossing. ▶ watch 3:00
  2. Position the fallen stars A5 stamp on the watercolour card using a stamping platform and magnet to secure it. ▶ watch 3:15
  3. Tap an anti-static bag over the stamp to remove excess powder, then apply embossing powder using a good push down to ensure all detail is covered. ▶ watch 3:30
  4. Heat the embossing powder with a heat gun, moving it around to ensure even melting and a shiny finish across all the stars and details. ▶ watch 5:45
  5. Collect any loose embossing powder flakes in a tub to avoid waste, then tap off excess and heat again for a twinkly finish. ▶ watch 6:15
  6. Trim the embossed card down to 7 inches in length using a cutter. ▶ watch 8:15
  7. Wet the watercolour card with water using a brush, then apply a rich emerald green watercolour wash from the top, creating an ombre effect by dragging it down lighter towards the bottom. ▶ watch 9:00
  8. Deepen the green wash with more pigment, building up the colour gradually and dragging it back down to create a blended ombre effect. ▶ watch 10:30
  9. Dry the watercoloured card with a heat gun on both sides to flatten it out and set the colour. ▶ watch 11:30
  10. Position square dies on the card using masking tape to mark where apertures will be cut, creating a focal point in the centre. ▶ watch 13:00
  11. Run the masked card through a die cutter to create the square apertures. ▶ watch 14:00
  12. Layer the embossed and watercoloured card onto white card, then black card, then gold card, using tape to secure each layer and ensuring the gold edge shows evenly all around. ▶ watch 15:45
  13. Stamp the word 'STAR' onto black and gold card strips using letter stamps, creating drop shadow effects by layering black letters with a diagonal offset of gold letters behind. ▶ watch 18:00
  14. Die-cut a star shape from both black and gold card to create a layered star element. ▶ watch 20:15
  15. Attach foam pads to the back of the square aperture and star to raise them dimensionally above the card base. ▶ watch 23:30
  16. Position the layered letters in the centre of the square, starting with the middle letters and working outwards to ensure even spacing. ▶ watch 24:45
