Merlin Album in Camelot Box

Create a stunning decorative album housed in an elegant MDF box featuring a haunted house scene with a dark blue night sky, illuminated windows, and atmospheric details. This project combines paper crafting and mixed media techniques to build a dimensional display piece with a gothic, mystical aesthetic. The album sits within the decorated box, with both the exterior and interior pages embellished with coordinating papers and decorative elements.

Step by step

1. Remove the flat pack Camelot box and Merlin album from the kit. ▶ watch 13:00
2. Assemble the Camelot box following the included instructions. Decide whether to keep or remove the centre aperture window based on your design preference. The box features a black outer frame with a cream-coloured inner structure. ▶ watch 13:15
3. If you remove the window from the box frame, keep the cut-out piece to decorate and add to the top of the box if desired. ▶ watch 13:30
4. Decorate the exterior of the Camelot box using decorative papers. Apply patterned paper with floral borders to create an ornate frame design. Add a central panel featuring vintage imagery with text and embellishments. ▶ watch 13:45
5. Prepare the Merlin album pages by decorating them with your chosen papers, photographs and embellishments. Layer the decorative papers onto the album pages and add any personal touches or themed elements you wish to include. ▶ watch 14:00
6. Place the completed Merlin album inside the decorated Camelot box. The album with its floral patterned pages and black borders fits neatly into the box structure. Position it so the pages can be easily accessed when the box is opened. ▶ watch 14:30

Tips from the show

• The dies included create lovely details inside the album such as pockets, flaps and pages.
• You can use family photographs in the window aperture for a personal touch.
