Embossed Butterfly Card with Patterned Background

A sophisticated card featuring a high-definition 3D embossed butterfly die-cut element layered over embossed patterned background paper. The combination of textured embossing and die-cutting creates elegant dimension and visual interest.

Step by step

1. Select a patterned cardstock from the coordinating 12 by 12 paper set. ▶ watch 32:45
2. Place the patterned paper into the high-definition 3D embossing folder and run through your machine to create the textured background. ▶ watch 33:00
3. Remove the embossed paper and admire the detailed texture on both front and back. ▶ watch 33:30
4. Die-cut the butterfly shape from the embossed paper using the coordinating die. ▶ watch 34:00
5. Mount the die-cut butterfly onto white cardstock using foam pads under the wings for dimension. ▶ watch 34:30
6. Add a sentiment stamp or text to complete the card. ▶ watch 35:00
7. Optional: overlay vellum over the butterfly for added sophistication. ▶ watch 35:30

Tips from the show

• You can leave the embossing in place on the background or die-cut it out separately for more creative flexibility.
• The die is separate from the embossing folder, giving you scope to use both on and off the page.
• Paint the embossed areas with watercolour for additional depth and colour variation.
