Embossed Leaf Die-Cut Card with Glitter Bug Powder

Create a striking card featuring a die-cut leaf on patterned paper, embossed with glitter bug powder to create a dimensional, sparkly effect. The technique uses sticky ink pads and heat-setting to achieve a jewel-like, textured finish.

Step by step

1. Die-cut your leaf shape from patterned paper using a golden metallic or mirror cardstock for best effect. ▶ watch 4:45
2. Glue the die-cut leaf onto your card base, positioning it centrally. ▶ watch 5:15
3. Allow the glue to dry completely under a block or weight. ▶ watch 6:30
4. Apply a sticky ink pad directly onto the die-cut leaf surface. ▶ watch 15:00
5. Sprinkle glitter bug embossing powder generously over the inked area, ensuring full coverage. ▶ watch 15:15
6. Tap off excess powder back into the container. ▶ watch 15:45
7. Heat-set the powder using a heat gun, moving it continuously to avoid overheating. ▶ watch 19:15
8. Allow the card to cool completely before handling. ▶ watch 20:00

Tips from the show

• Use a piece of cardstock underneath to catch any excess powder as you work.
• If your heat gun overheats, unplug it and let it cool before continuing.
• The glitter bug powder creates a chunky, dimensional effect that works well with metallic cardstock.
