A project from our live show MONDAY CATCH-UP - Join Toni Darroch for her latest news and insights into all things CRAFTY - Broadcast 10th April 23 · 04/10/2023 · watch it from 49:45

Step by step

  1. Run a piece of white card through your cutting machine with the White Rose embossing folder to create a raised embossed design. ▶ watch 50:30
  2. Swatch black ink over the embossed side of the card to highlight the raised texture and create contrast. ▶ watch 52:00
  3. Take a piece of patterned paper and position it inside the embossing folder on the debossed side (the recessed side, not the raised side). ▶ watch 54:00
  4. Run the patterned paper through your cutting machine with the embossing folder to create a debossed impression. ▶ watch 58:00
  5. Take a black ink pad and burnish it over the exterior of the patterned paper, pushing the ink into the debossed areas to create definition. ▶ watch 58:30
  6. Blend and rub the black ink pad around the design to intensify the colour in the debossed areas and make the pattern more visible. ▶ watch 59:00
  7. Position the patterned paper back into the embossing folder, aligning it carefully until it clicks into place. ▶ watch 1:00:30
  8. Run the paper through your cutting machine again to create a second embossing pass. ▶ watch 1:01:00
  9. Apply gold ink pad around the edges and design areas of the embossed background to add metallic highlights and dimension. ▶ watch 1:02:00
  10. Use a cloth or tissue to burnish and blend the gold ink into the embossed areas for a cohesive, blended finish. ▶ watch 1:04:30
  11. Layer the finished embossed background onto white card to capture any excess gold transfer and create additional texture variation. ▶ watch 1:05:30
