Create a beautiful shaped card using nesting dies to build dimensional layers. This project demonstrates how to use the A5 nesting dies to create an aperture-style card with coordinating paper panels, foliage elements, and embellishments for a finished floral design.

Step by step

Select the largest nesting die from the bundle and cut two pieces from white cardstock. ▶ watch 17:30
Score a line across the top of one white piece to create a fold for the card base. ▶ watch 19:45
Adhere the scored piece to the back of your card blank using glue, aligning it at the base. ▶ watch 20:00
Cut a piece of patterned paper using the next size down nesting die to create a layered background panel. ▶ watch 21:30
Use the smaller nesting dies to cut additional layers in coordinating cardstock colours for depth. ▶ watch 24:30

Tips from the show

Nesting dies are a staple item in your crafting stash and should always be kept to hand for matting and layering.
You can use the nesting dies to create shaped cards of various sizes or as matte and layer elements for square cards.
When creating large shaped cards, cut two pieces and score one to fold down for stability when the card stands open.
