A project from our live show CATCH UP with Simon for MONDAY MADNESS in the HTCN studio broadcast 6th Dec 21 · 12/06/2021
A festive tea light card cover featuring a layered snowflake design that creates a three-dimensional triangular structure. The design is transparent with gems for sparkle, and can be made flat for posting or kept dimensional for display with a battery-operated tea light inside.
Start with a piece of blue card and secure the widest snowflake die layer with masking tape to prevent movement.
Run the card through the die-cutting machine to cut out the snowflake detail.
Take a piece of blue vellum and cut it using the outer snowflake die without using a shim.
Apply glue around the edges of the card snowflake layer, avoiding the centre.
Attach the vellum snowflake to the back of the card layer, pushing outwards from the centre to avoid trapping glue.
Add clear gems to the centre of each diamond shape in the snowflake pattern.
Score fold lines along the marked bend lines on the snowflake panel.
Fold the snowflake along the scored lines to create a triangular three-dimensional structure with two feet.
Glue the folded panels together to secure the three-dimensional shape.
Add foam pads to the bottom of the snowflake structure and attach small coloured owl characters to the front.
