Step by step

  1. Glue a piece of backing paper onto your card blank using a glue runner, pressing down firmly to secure. ▶ watch 1:15
  2. Punch two holes through the spine of the card and insert gold brads through each hole, pushing them flat on the inside. ▶ watch 2:15
  3. Cut one large square from red card using your largest nesting die, then cut three slightly smaller squares from the same die. ▶ watch 4:00
  4. Cut an aperture using a die that is two sizes smaller than your largest die to create the photo slot. ▶ watch 5:00
  5. Cut a small notch at the bottom of the largest square to allow the photo to slide in and out. ▶ watch 5:30
  6. Glue the three medium squares together in layers on top of the largest square, ensuring they are level and aligned to create depth. ▶ watch 6:00
  7. Glue the aperture piece to the front as a cover, which will hide the internal mechanism and allow wiggle room for the photo. ▶ watch 7:45
  8. Cut a gold frame from complementary die-cut layers and glue it around the aperture to add decorative detail. ▶ watch 8:15
  9. Watercolour the elephant image with grey, adding black for depth in the trunk, forehead and legs, then add pink to the ears. ▶ watch 9:30
  10. Die-cut the coloured elephant and glue it to the back panel, then attach the bunny to the balloon string to look like the elephant is holding it. ▶ watch 11:00
  11. Stamp your sentiment in black ink onto the backing paper, pressing multiple times to ensure crisp coverage on the textured surface. ▶ watch 14:45
  12. Thread ribbon through the punched holes and tie a bow on the front of the card. ▶ watch 16:00
  13. Attach foam pads to the back of your elephant and bunny elements, then position them on the card at an angle to frame the sentiment. ▶ watch 17:30
  14. Slide your chosen photo into the frame slot to complete the card. ▶ watch 18:45
