A project from our live show Stamping Techniques - Monochromatic Card - Uplifting Sentiment - Coordinating Envelope 22ND Dec 21 · 12/22/2021
Create a striking monochromatic card featuring a stylish lady stamp in black ink with watercolour grey shading. This elegant design uses only black, white and grey tones to create a modern, sophisticated look that works beautifully as a postcard or greeting card.
Take a piece of white cardstock as your base.
Mount the larger lady stamp onto a clear block.
Ink the stamp with black ink and stamp the lady image in the centre of your cardstock, pressing down firmly to capture all the detail in her hair, jacket, arms and sunglasses.
Mount the 'Stay Classy' sentiment stamp onto a smaller clear block.
Ink the sentiment stamp with black ink and stamp it near the base of the lady's arm, positioning it to integrate with the main image.
Mix black watercolour ink with lots of water to create a light grey tone.
Using a brush, apply the grey wash to the lady's top and jacket area to add shading and dimension.
Add grey shading to the lady's hair to create texture and depth in the black and white image.
Apply darker grey shadows around the arms and on the outskirts of the design to enhance dimension.
Add small black splats around the design using a brush to create an artistic, painted effect.
Mount the finished stamped and painted image onto your card base using glue, ensuring it is secure and centred.
