Cling Film Tie-Dye Fish Card with Masked Elements

A vibrant, artistic card featuring a tie-dye effect background created with cling film and multiple ink colours, with masked fish stamps that pop against the psychedelic background. Glitter edging adds a finishing sparkle.

You will need

Step by step

1. Scrunch up a piece of cling film to create texture. ▶ watch 24:30
2. Apply patches of the lightest ink colour (green) onto a piece of card using the cling film. ▶ watch 25:00
3. Add patches of pink ink colour over the green areas. ▶ watch 25:15
4. Add patches of blue ink colour to complete the colour combination. ▶ watch 25:30
5. Lightly mist the inked areas with water using a spray bottle. ▶ watch 25:45
6. Press a pre-cut card strip firmly into the wet, inked cling film to transfer the colours. ▶ watch 26:00
7. Lift the card strip away to reveal the tie-dye effect. ▶ watch 26:15
8. If desired, reactivate the cling film with water and press the card into additional areas for more pigment. ▶ watch 26:45
9. Stamp fish designs onto masking sheets using black Versafine ink. ▶ watch 27:00
10. Cut out the stamped fish images from the masking sheets. ▶ watch 28:00
11. Peel the masking sheets and stick them over the stamped fish areas to protect them. ▶ watch 28:15
12. Peel away the masking sheets to reveal crisp, white fish against the coloured background. ▶ watch 29:45
13. Trim glitter card into strips and adhere them to the edges of the card using wet glue and tape runner. ▶ watch 32:00

• The cling film technique creates a unique tie-dye effect similar to fabric dyeing.
• Masking sheets keep your stamped images perfectly white and crisp against blended backgrounds.
• You can reactivate the cling film multiple times to build up more colour and pigment.
