A project from our live show FRIDAY LAUNCH - Join Toni LIVE for her latest products and demo's - Broadcast 25th March 22 · 03/25/2022
Create a striking abstract card using watercolour techniques and floral die cuts. This project transforms pretty stamped flowers into an artistic composition with coloured ink washes, water splashes, and bold black pen lines for a modern, unconventional look.
Stamp the large bouquet, flower head and foliage elements onto watercolour card using smokey grey ink.
Die cut all the stamped images using the coordinating dies from the set.
Using a brush, swipe coloured inks (blue, brown, orange, yellow, green, pink) across the watercolour card in random lines and patches.
Splash clean water across the inked card to create a watercolour effect and let the colours blend and bubble.
Colour the centres of the die-cut flowers with watercolour pencils or inks, leaving the outer petals white (glazing technique).
Add a second layer of more intense colour to the flower centres by dropping concentrated ink with less water.
Dry all pieces with a heat gun.
Using a fine liner pen, draw bold black lines across the entire card composition in different directions.
Edge the card with a black ink pad, varying the pressure to create thicker and thinner areas around all sides.
Glue the main watercolour background piece onto a black card base.
Layer the die-cut flowers onto the background using foam pads, positioning them to align with the pen lines.
Add a sentiment from the collage collection and embellish with gems or sequins if desired.
