A project from our live show BRAND SHOWCASE - Join Sandra Rushton from Sanntangle - Broadcast 8th April · 04/08/2022
Using a large mandala stamp as your starting point, you add hand-drawn tangled patterns and fine liner details to create a unique, layered artwork. The result is a beautiful, intricate design that looks complex but is achievable for all skill levels.
Stamp the mandala design onto an 8 by 8 inch piece of heavyweight cartridge paper in the corner, ensuring the stamp is clean and pressed firmly.
Use a regular archival fine liner pen to add bubble shapes and curved lines within sections of the stamped mandala, following the existing lines as guides.
Bring in dual brush pens in colours such as red to add fine lines and fill in selected areas of the design with colour.
Add watercolour effect by applying water with a brush to blend the dual brush pen colours, allowing them to move naturally across the paper.
Sprinkle table salt onto wet watercolour areas to create a textured, pitted effect.
Use a tortilla blending stump to soften pencil shading and create three-dimensional effects around the design.
Add final details with gel pens in metallic colours such as silver and gold to highlight specific areas and create a layered finish.
Share your make with the Stamps By Me community - and keep this guide for next time.
