A project from our live show MONDAY MADNESS - Join Simon from AVAGO INK - broadcast 11th April · 04/11/2022
A striking card featuring a woven ribbon panel in the centre, framed with a die-cut aperture. The design showcases colourful satin ribbons interlaced to create a textured feature, topped with a watercoloured elephant and rabbit character with balloon details.
Use nesting dies to cut a frame from white card, creating a border around the aperture.
Apply double-sided tape across the top and bottom of your frame to secure vertical ribbon strips.
Stick down your vertical ribbon strips in your chosen colour order, spacing them evenly.
Weave shorter horizontal ribbon strips in and out of the vertical ribbons, alternating colours to create a woven pattern.
Push the woven ribbons down as you go to keep them straight and aligned.
Secure the ribbon ends by placing your hand on one side and applying red liner tape underneath, then pushing down to hold.
Mount the woven panel onto your card blank using a tape runner, positioning it centrally.
Die-cut the frame aperture from coloured cardstock using the same nesting dies, then adhere it over the woven panel with double-sided tape.
Stamp the elephant design onto white card using black ink, ensuring crisp detail on all areas.
Activate the watercolour palette with water and apply grey wash to the elephant's head and body, starting light and building darker tones.
Add peachy tones to the elephant's ears and the rabbit's feet to create warmth and dimension.
Paint the rabbit in soft brown, then add bright colours to the balloons—blue, red, and orange—fading the colour for a three-dimensional effect.
Heat-set the watercoloured image to ensure the paint is fully dry.
Die-cut the elephant and rabbit characters using the corresponding dies from the stamp set.
Adhere the elephant to the card using glue on the balloon area and a small amount on the tail, allowing it to curve naturally for a floating effect.
Glue the rabbit character in place using the same technique to complete the design.
