Step by step

  1. Stamp the bear, sunflower and plant pot images onto white cardstock using black ink. ▶ watch 11:15
  2. Cut two strips of cardstock and use a punch to create banner edges, or hand-cut the banner points by marking the centre and cutting from each side to the dot. ▶ watch 12:30
  3. Use a stencil and brush to apply yellow and teal ink to the banner strips to create a decorative background pattern. ▶ watch 23:15
  4. Trim the stencilled banners to size and layer them on your card base at different heights, with one flat and one raised with foam pads. ▶ watch 25:00
  5. Colour the sunflower with abandoned coral and orange ink, using loose watercolour techniques. ▶ watch 32:30
  6. Colour the bear with grey-brown ink, creating shading by dragging your brush from left to centre and right to centre to form a halo effect. ▶ watch 33:45
  7. Add wood texture to the plant pot by drawing lines down one side to create shading and depth. ▶ watch 35:30
  8. Layer the coloured images onto the card, positioning the bear in the plant pot and the flower above it. ▶ watch 40:00
  9. Stamp the sentiment 'thanks' and 'a huge' using small bold word stamps across the base of the card. ▶ watch 42:30
  10. Add foam pads under the sentiment to create dimension and lift it away from the card base. ▶ watch 47:30
  11. Enhance the coloured elements by layering pencil details on top of the watercolour, using circular motions to add definition. ▶ watch 48:30
  12. Finish by adding green sequins or gems scattered across the card for sparkle, including one on the leaf to resemble a water drop. ▶ watch 50:00
