Freestanding Mini Card with Beaming Smile Die

Create a charming freestanding mini card using the Beaming Smile outline die cut twice. This card stands upright like a place card or gift tag, featuring layered elements with a decorative stencilled background and sentiment.

Step by step

1. Cut the outline die twice from cardstock. ▶ watch 20:15
2. Score and fold the top of one cut piece over slightly to create the tent shape. ▶ watch 20:30
3. Glue the folded piece down to create the freestanding base. ▶ watch 20:45
4. Use the die as a stencil and dip into pigment ink to create a decorative background element on cardstock. ▶ watch 21:15
5. Layer the inked background onto the freestanding card base. ▶ watch 21:30
6. Cut the sentiment 'kind friend' from white cardstock. ▶ watch 23:45
7. Adhere the white sentiment to the centre of the card. ▶ watch 24:00
8. Optional: punch a hole in the top and add twine for a gift tag variation. ▶ watch 24:15

Tips from the show

• You can create shaped cards using the matte layer of the die set for added dimension.
• Don't just think of dies as toppers—use them as stencils to create backgrounds.
