Blended Ombre Rainbow Card with Pigment Ink

Create a stunning seamless ombre effect using pigment-based ink pads and stencils. The colours blend smoothly from yellow through coral to pink and purple, giving a professional gradient finish without breaking your wrist.

Step by step

1. Place your stencil on white card stock. ▶ watch 37:00
2. Apply yellow pigment ink through the stencil by pushing the ink pad directly onto the card. ▶ watch 37:15
3. Apply coral pigment ink next to the yellow, slightly overlapping the edge. ▶ watch 37:30
4. Apply bright pink or red pigment ink to the top section, overlapping with the coral. ▶ watch 37:45
5. Use a blending tool or sponge dauber to gently blend the colours together where they meet, creating smooth transitions. ▶ watch 38:00
6. Remove the stencil carefully to reveal the blended background. ▶ watch 38:15
7. Apply sparkly embossing powder to selected areas if desired. ▶ watch 38:30
8. Heat set the embossing powder with a heat gun to finish. ▶ watch 38:45

Tips from the show

• Pigment ink stays wet longer than dye-based ink, allowing you to blend colours without rushing.
• You don't need to break your wrist trying to achieve ombre effects with pigment inks.
• Let the ink sit for a couple of minutes before blending to ensure smooth colour transitions.
