Step by step

  1. Gather your card blank and off-cut pieces of cardstock in contrasting colours (pink, white, yellow). Arrange them as your base layers. ▶ watch 13:30
  2. Place all components into your cutting machine to hold them in position, or secure with low-tack tape. ▶ watch 15:00
  3. Ink up your stamp with black ink and press it firmly over all the layered pieces, ensuring the stamp reaches into all the crevices and different levels. ▶ watch 16:00
  4. Re-stamp the image a second time to deepen the colour and ensure good coverage across all the layers. ▶ watch 17:30
  5. Cut out the stamped girl image, keeping the fussy cutting simple by trimming away excess background rather than following every hair strand precisely. ▶ watch 19:00
  6. Cut a decorative banner tail from your off-cut cardstock by cutting small triangles at the top corners to create a pointed effect. ▶ watch 23:00
  7. Wrap shiny cord or twine around the banner tail multiple times, then tie it off at the back to create a bow with long decorative legs. ▶ watch 27:00
  8. Apply foam pads to the back of your main layered panel and position it on your card base, ensuring everything is level and straight. ▶ watch 29:30
  9. Glue down the banner tail with the bow, positioning it where you want the focal point to be. ▶ watch 33:00
  10. Layer your cut-out girl images onto the card, positioning them to overlap the banner and create dimension. ▶ watch 35:00
  11. Add your sentiment strip across the card in black, positioning it to work with your design layout. ▶ watch 39:00
  12. Manipulate the twine bow legs by twisting and bending them to create a curved, dimensional effect down the side of the card. ▶ watch 42:00
