Watercoloured Wicker Basket Embossed Card

Use the wicker basket embossing folder with watercolour techniques to create a textured, dimensional card. Apply different ink colours to each side of the embossing folder, spray with water, and run through your machine to achieve a rope-like or wave effect with sparkle.

Step by step

1. Prepare your wicker basket embossing folder and watercolour cardstock. ▶ watch 50:45
2. Apply blue ink pad colour to one side of the embossing folder by brushing the pad over the raised areas. ▶ watch 51:00
3. Apply abandoned coral or another contrasting colour to the reverse side of the embossing folder. ▶ watch 51:15
4. Lightly spray the embossing folder with water or Maple ink sparkle to soften the fibres and create texture. ▶ watch 51:30
5. Place your watercolour cardstock into the embossing folder. ▶ watch 51:45
6. Run the folder and cardstock through your die-cutting machine. ▶ watch 52:00
7. Remove the cardstock and allow it to dry completely. ▶ watch 52:15
8. Mount the embossed piece onto a card base, using it as a focal point or background element. ▶ watch 52:30

Tips from the show

• Embossing folders wipe clean easily, so don't worry about mixing colours on them.
• Experiment with different colour combinations on each side of the folder for varied effects.
• The water spray creates a bleached or textured effect that looks like rope or wire when dry.
