Step by step

  1. Take a piece of white cardstock and use blending brushes with pigment ink pads to randomly apply colour in spots across the card, building up coverage with pink, lilac and grey tones. ▶ watch 20:15
  2. Position your embossing folder with the debossed (recessed) side facing up and place the inked cardstock on top, then run it through your die-cutting machine with the appropriate plates. ▶ watch 22:30
  3. Flip the card over and ink the reverse side using your blending brush with the same or complementary ink colours, working the pigment ink into the debossed areas. ▶ watch 29:15
  4. Sprinkle embossing powder around the edges and debossed areas, avoiding the main image, then heat set with your heat gun from underneath the card. ▶ watch 38:15
  5. Burnish the embossing powder with a tissue to bring back the white highlights and reveal the texture. ▶ watch 39:00
  6. Spray water onto your hand and flick it onto the card to create water droplet effects, then add white gouache or confetti ink splats for additional texture. ▶ watch 48:00
  7. Apply black ink around the outer edges of the debossed design using a blending brush to make the image pop and add definition. ▶ watch 50:30
  8. Mount the finished embossed piece onto black cardstock, then attach to a pink top-folding card base using glue. ▶ watch 51:30
  9. Trim away the white border around the embossed design if desired to create a cleaner look, then embellish with sequins around the edges. ▶ watch 54:00
  10. Add a washi tape sentiment or other embellishment to complete the card. ▶ watch 54:15
