A project from our live show MONDAY MADNESS - Join Simon from AVAGO-INK for his BRAND NEW LAUNCH - Broadcast 3rd OCT 22 · 10/03/2022 · watch it from 9:00

A vibrant card using the Retro Dots stencil with hand-painted coloured circles in primary colours. The stencil creates a fun, retro aesthetic with outlined semicircles that you fill in with distress oxides, then define with a black pen for added pop.

Step by step

  1. Lay the Retro Dots stencil onto your card base and secure it with tape so it doesn't move. ▶ watch 9:30
  2. Select distress oxide colours (purple, blue, green, red, orange) and use a brush to paint individual circles within the stencil, choosing one colour per circle. ▶ watch 10:30
  3. Fill multiple circles across the card, varying the colours to create a primary colour palette. ▶ watch 11:30
  4. Replace the lids on your ink pads to prevent them drying out. ▶ watch 12:45
  5. Use a black 0.8 liner pen to trace around the semicircle outlines, defining each shape and making them pop. ▶ watch 13:00
  6. For semicircles without solid edges, continue the line across to break up the design. ▶ watch 13:45
  7. Carefully remove the stencil to reveal the finished coloured background. ▶ watch 14:30
  8. Trim your coloured panel to size (4.5 by 6 inches) using a paper trimmer. ▶ watch 14:45
  9. Mount the panel onto a slightly larger card base using wet glue to create a finished card. ▶ watch 15:00
