Embossed and Glittered Striped Card

Create a striking card with a character embossed in silver and mounted over a vibrant glitter-striped background. This simple yet eye-catching design uses layered glitter in primary colours to create bold horizontal stripes.

Step by step

1. Stamp a character image onto white card using black ink, pressing down firmly with an anti-static bag for a crisp result. ▶ watch 31:00
2. Apply embossing ink over the stamped character image. ▶ watch 31:30
3. Generously cover the embossing ink with silver embossing powder, ensuring complete coverage. ▶ watch 32:00
4. Tap off the excess embossing powder back into the pot. ▶ watch 32:30
5. Use a heat gun to melt the embossing powder, watching it transform into a shiny silver finish. ▶ watch 33:00
6. Trim around the embossed character, leaving a slight border. ▶ watch 34:00
7. Stamp a sentiment (such as 'you are awesome') onto black card using embossing ink in the bottom corner. ▶ watch 34:45
8. Apply silver embossing powder to the sentiment and heat it to create a shiny finish. ▶ watch 35:30
9. Apply double-sided tape in horizontal strips across the black card panel. ▶ watch 36:45
10. Lift one strip of tape at a time and sprinkle red glitter over it, then tap off the excess. ▶ watch 38:30
11. Repeat the process with yellow, aquamarine blue, and purple glitter, creating horizontal stripes across the card. ▶ watch 39:00
12. Mount the glittered panel onto a silver mirror board backing, then attach the embossed character using foam pads for dimension. ▶ watch 43:15

Tips from the show

• Use an anti-static bag when stamping to ensure crisp black impressions.
• Apply glitter one strip at a time for controlled colour placement, or lift all tape at once and sprinkle colours in one direction for a graduated effect.
• You can use leftover glitter from your craft stash—these products go a long way.
