Paso a paso

  1. Stamp a rectangular frame outline on copy paper using waterproof ink to create a mask. ▶ watch 51:00
  2. Die-cut the mask using the coordinating die. ▶ watch 53:30
  3. Position the mask on your watercolour card at an angle, leaving space for a sentiment. ▶ watch 55:00
  4. Stamp the floral image over the mask using waterproof black ink. ▶ watch 56:00
  5. Wet the cardstock thoroughly with clean water using a brush, focusing on sections within the frame. ▶ watch 1:05:00
  6. Drop dark blue and purple watercolour into the wet areas, allowing the colour to bloom and spread naturally. ▶ watch 1:06:30
  7. Reactivate the wet areas by adding more water and intensifying the colour with additional pigment. ▶ watch 1:07:00
  8. Use a clean, damp brush to blend harsh edges by working from the outside inward. ▶ watch 1:09:00
  9. Load a brush with watery watercolour and flick paint across the card in multiple directions using a splat technique. ▶ watch 1:12:00
  10. Use a straw to blow watery watercolour paint at an angle, creating organic paint lines that radiate from the centre. ▶ watch 1:12:30
  11. Add light watercolour washes over the stamped flowers to suggest shadows and depth, following the natural contours of the petals. ▶ watch 1:15:00
  12. Stamp a sentiment (such as 'Congratulations') in black ink at the bottom of the card. ▶ watch 1:26:00
  13. Mount the finished card onto black cardstock, leaving a quarter-inch border. ▶ watch 1:27:00
